Red Ochre Studio – Dodges Ferry, lutruwita/Tasmania
Teffany Thiedeman is the mother half of Red Ochre Studio, a collaboration with her daughter, Ochre Bodhi.
Red Ochre Studio was set up in 2021 when Ochre moved to Tasmania.
Teffany and Ochre have come together to create Red Ochre Studio, it is a fusion of both their art practises and love for Tasmania. In a joint effort they fixed up the old wood working garage at the family shack and turned it into a small home ceramic studio. Since then it has continued to grow and evolve.
Hearth Studio (Canberra) and Red Ochre Studio (Tasmania) often join forces for Open Studios, featuring artworks from both their studios. Teffany often travels south to spend time making and living in Tasmania.
Red Ochre Studio now teaches weekly classes, weekend workshops and private events.
Our work is largely coiled and slab built and greatly inspired by the surrounding sea side environment. We use a lot of beach combed kelp in our work and make both sculptural and functional domestic pieces.
